The Terminal List Season 2 Plot
Season 2 begins about six months after the end of Season 1. James Reece, the most wanted man in the world after finishing his list, is still at sea, trying to deal with what remains of his life after taking revenge without any limits. Katie Buranek, the journalist played by Constance Wu, is dealing with the fallout of publishing Reece’s story, which has hurt her more than it has helped, in a media landscape shaken by the resurgence of Al-Qaeda.
The story then pulls Reece back into action. A terrorist attack in London puts him on the trail of a former friend and ally, Mohammed “Mo” Farooq, a former Iraqi Special Operations Forces officer who was last seen in Dark Wolf. Mo is now accused of carrying out the attack using skills he learned from the CIA’s Scorpions training program, including training he received from Reece himself. The CIA decides to recruit Reece instead of locking him up, and in exchange for hunting down Mo, he is offered a full pardon.
Pratt has described the season as a love letter to the Special Operations community. Compared with Season 1, which followed a SEAL who came home after his platoon was ambushed and uncovered a conspiracy behind the tragedy, Season 2 is bigger in scale and more international in approach.
The Terminal List Season 2 Cast and Characters
The Terminal List Season 2 cast combines returning faces with several new international actors.
Chris Pratt as James Reece: The former Navy SEAL commander returns as the franchise lead. Pratt is also an executive producer on the series through Indivisible Productions.
Constance Wu as Katie Buranek: The journalist who published Reece’s story returns. In Season 2, she helps Raife Hastings investigate the weapons shipments being diverted to terrorists.
Tom Hopper as Raife Hastings: Hopper, who also appeared in the prequel series Dark Wolf, plays Raife Hastings, who is based in Washington, D.C., and discovers the diversion of weapons. Reece also visits the Hastings Hunting Reserve in Mozambique early in the season.
Dar Salim as Mohammed “Mo” Farooq: A former Iraqi Special Operations Forces officer and Reece’s former ally, now accused of a terrorist attack and said to have defected to Al-Qaeda. The conflict between Reece and Mo is the emotional centre of the season, with Reece struggling to match the Mo he knew in 2015 with the man he has become.
Gabriel Luna as Freddy Strain: A former SEAL Team 6 Senior Chief who is now a CIA Ground Branch officer. He is described as both an elite sniper and a dedicated family man. His belief that Reece survived the events of Season 1 helps pull Reece out of hiding, and the two train together at a black site in Morocco.
Supporting Cast and Characters
Luke Hemsworth as Jules Landry: Hemsworth plays a CIA contractor who was introduced in Dark Wolf and is described as slightly arrogant and volatile.
Costa Ronin as Vasili Adrenov and Martin Sensmeier as Sergeant Major Otatkay: These actors play new characters in Season 2, linked to the international side of the story.
Olga Kurylenko, Yul Vazquez, Arnold Vosloo, Shiraz Tzarfati, Jeremy Bobb, Edwin Hodge and Caitlin Bassett: They round out the expanded international cast. Their roles have not been fully detailed in the material reviewed.

Production, Creative and Technical Aspects
Development and Story
The Terminal List was renewed for a second season in February 2023. The new season adapts True Believer, the second book in Jack Carr’s Reece series, which gives it a more espionage-driven structure than the revenge story of the first season. David DiGilio is the series writer, executive producer and showrunner. Jack Carr, a former Navy SEAL officer and the author of the books, is also an executive producer, along with former Army Ranger Max Adams and former Navy SEAL Jared Shaw, who bring military experience to the production.
Casting and Characters
Gabriel Luna was announced as a recurring cast member in May 2025, and Luke Hemsworth joined the franchise through Dark Wolf. Tom Hopper and Dar Salim carry over from the prequel series, which makes the season a bridge between Season 1 and Dark Wolf. Pratt has said in interviews that he would love to include Arnold Schwarzenegger in a future story, though this is only a wish and not part of Season 2.
Filming and Locations
Filming for Season 2 wrapped in October 2025, with the final scenes shot in Toronto. The production team said the cast and crew filmed in South Africa, North America and Morocco to bring the book to life. Pratt had earlier said that six of the eight episodes were already completed when he spoke about a late-year release.
Production Team
Pratt executive produces through Indivisible Productions, while Antoine Fuqua and Kat Samick executive produce through Hill District Media. Fuqua, the director known for Training Day and The Equalizer, also directs one of the Season 2 episodes. The other directors listed are MJ Bassett, Frederick E. O. Toye, Ellen Kuras, Tucker Gates and Sylvain White.
Music and Score
The composer for Season 2 was not confirmed in the material reviewed. The prequel series Dark Wolf was scored by Ruth Barrett. This section will be updated once the official credits are available.

What to Watch Before Season 2
Season 1 of The Terminal List is available on Prime Video, along with the prequel series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, which released seven episodes between 27 August and 24 September 2025. Dark Wolf follows Ben Edwards, played by Taylor Kitsch, from his time as a Navy SEAL to his work with the CIA. Ratings, Reviews and Audience Reception

Season 1 Reception
The first season was a major viewership success for Prime Video and gathered a big audience, with the franchise reaching more than 100 million viewers worldwide according to Prime Video. Opinions were more divided on the storytelling. Some viewers felt that the eight-episode season stretched a straightforward action story for too long, and Pratt has acknowledged that the first season was a learning experience while recognising the strength of its fan base. That support led to the prequel Dark Wolf and to the second season.
What to Expect From Season 2
Season 2 has moved to a wider espionage story, a larger cast and bigger locations, which could address some of the concerns about the first season’s narrower focus. Reviews and verified audience ratings for the new season will be added once viewers have had a chance to watch it.
Is The Terminal List Season 2 Worth Watching?
The Terminal List Season 2 is worth considering for viewers who enjoy military action, espionage thrillers and stories about a damaged hero trying to find a purpose. Its strengths on paper are the shift from revenge to a larger conspiracy, a personal conflict between Reece and his former ally, an expanded cast and the benefit of a single-day release for easy bingeing.
Viewers who prefer lighter shows, or who were put off by the violence and slow-burn pacing of Season 1, may want to check early audience reactions first. Since the show carries a TV-MA rating, it is meant for mature audiences. For fans of Season 1 and Dark Wolf, it is an easy pick, and for newcomers, watching Season 1 first will make the story easier to follow.
